Movie Review: 3dots

3 dots...

Sugeeth after the extra ordinary successive run of his debut movie "ordinary" took up the same name with his new production house "ordinary films" to produce his second venture 3dots.

About the movie: 3 dots means "3 (jail)Pullikal" deals with the story of 3 ex prisoners vishnu(kunjako boban), pappan(prathap pothen) and louis(biju menon) who ended up in jail for three different reasons and meets up in same cell and develops friendship with each other. 3 of them continue their friendship outside the jail and vishnu and louie end up with pappan chettan on his small apartment and tries to reform their life, which happens mainly due to the high influence of criminologist Dr.Issac(narien) whom afterwards they find that he himself is having lots of problems within his family. vishnu goes in wide search for his job because he is graduated and young but his jail history takes away all his chances. Pappan chettan was an ex bank officer and he just didn't had any idea what to do and was very sad about loosing his family and regretted himself for his wrong doings. Louis on the other hand never minded anything was easygoing and was just confused about his present. All of them were hardly accepted by the society and when they lost all faith Dr.Issac helps them out and they start a playschool, an ambulance service and part time driving school. From there the story goes on with romance and drama.

The cinematography by Faizal ali was good and some beautiful shots are made from Munnar are beautiful to watch.
The music by vidyasagar was pretty good and songs are very nice to hear but the placement of songs were pretty bad. songs keep coming from nowhere it needs to be and made it boring at all times.
The chemistry between Kunjacko and biju still worked out and prathap got into them pretty well to make it a trio but the story kind of lagged most of the part.
the two actresses has nothing to do much rather than filling up some time in this movie and doesn't give a good romantic impression.
The usual comic situation makes us laugh but still nothing leaves an impression to be remembered.
The editing wasn't the best and choreography was still average.
Climax of the movie has some twists and turns and in my view to be frank i would say narien and made the second half more lively because i started getting bored with those trios on screen.

About the cast:

K
unajcko boban as vishnu did a good job but wasnt his best and never felt any change from his last few movies.
Biju menon after entering comic characters was even better amoung the three with his humor and makes us laugh.
Prathap pothen did well as pappan chettan and surely played as matured among three.
Narien single handed kept his character the best of all with stunning looks and good dialogue presentation.
Janani Iyer made her debut to malayalam industry as lakshmi in the movie doesnt impress much but never made it boring though.
Anjana Menon as grace played a single mother kept it good but still had nothing to do with the movie though.

Should you watch:
F
rom sugeeth with his debut movie ordinary we expect much but never gave anything expected through his second one. Seeing this movie makes us remember many movies and i really think the movie has same story line of Rob-b-hood released in 2006. Movie lags many time especially in first half and with some weird placement of songs kills the mood of watching. Anyway the movie is an entertainer to an extent with some good twists and turns in second half.
And as always it is your decision and this is my view on the movie.

My rating: 2.5/5.. have a great day ahead... :)

Movie Reviews: AMEN-a divine comedy

AMEN:

Lijo Jose Pellissery with his 3rd film after two really different experimental films "nayakan" and "city of God" is a easter treat for all keralites. Amen "a divine comedy" is again an experimental film...

About the movie: Amen is a musical comedy which deals with the love story of Solaman and sossama and circles around with the life of people in a land called Kumaragiri. An ancient syrian church and people of the place and the band are the main characters of the story. Lijo has wonderfully executed the script of this story, and some fabulous screenplay and dialogues by PS Rafeeque. It is really a visual treat with awesome sets given and the characterization of the movie has been just brilliant. Every person in the movie has an unique identity of their own which makes us remember each individually. The story has a very serious part in the second half but the way lijo has inserted comic situations every now and then keeps away the boring and the humor situations are really new for us and done in variety manner.

The music has been very simple and folksy and very nice to hear and went on a flow through the movie. so is the background scores which were just awesome.
The cinematography by Abinandhan Ramanujam was just brilliant and You got to watch out how camera moves in every shots and its just amazing and kudos to the art directors(Mohammed Bawa) for those wonderful sets and costume designers (Siji Thomas Nobel) for perfect costumes and editors(Manoj) for those beautiful edited shots.
And of course a beautiful and brilliant executed climax makes us give them a standing ovation.

About the cast:

F
ahad fazil is the lead character in the story as Solaman. when fahad is in the screen what you expect is brilliance and he never made it down and was spot on with the character and was just brilliant.
Swaty reddy (subramaniapuram fame) made her debut in malayalam through this film as Sossama and was just awesome especially with the cute face and epic dialogue deliveries within her family was just hilarious.
Indrajith has been lijo's fav and he continues in his 3rd venture as Father Vincent Vattoli and needs high appreciation for his part as he did it with absolute brilliance, truly needs a standing ovation.
Nathasha sahgal, Script writer turned actress played love interest of Indrajith kept it pretty good as just how it needed.
The people favorite Rachana plays as clara the sister of solaman give some beautiful dialogue delivery and again was perfect for the role.
Kalabhavan Mani as choir leader just kept it perfect and realistic and was brilliant.
Makrand Deshpande as a guest role has a hilarious entry and made it brilliant.
Chemban Vinod again in another lijo movie made did a fantastic and surprise funny role as paily.
Kulapulli leela as paili's mother and toddy shop owner continues to make us laugh.
Anil murali as brother in law of indrajith, Sandra thomas as sister of indrajith, shashi kalinga was absolute spot on with their roles.
