Movie Review: Om Shanti Oshana

Om Shanti Oshana:

OSO is the directed by Jude Anthony Joseph is a romantic comedy genre.

About the Movie:
Apart from other love stories, Om Shanti Oshana is a romantic love story from a girls prespective. Pooja Mathew(Nazriya Nazim) is a girl with boy like character, always makes troubles in her school and church. Her parents, Dr.Mathew Davis(Ranji Panicker) love her so much. Apart from her buddy colleagues Neethu(Akshaya) and Dona(Oeshin) she has another best friend her aunt Rachel(Vinayprasad). Both talks about anything and everything, and in a daily conversation about her cousin's marriage they discuss about marrying the person you love, and she decides to love a man and marry him. She first finds the best looking of school, but later she finds that love is not only in looks, but character. She finds out the name of his love is Giri(Nivin Pauly) who is well known in the town by all expect herself. She finds out that Giri is the classmate of her cousin David Kanjani(Aju Varghese)who is utter fraud. Giri is also a social activist, loved by everyone helps the poor, against dowry and of course a kungfu master. On Giri's b'day she tells her love to him, but already having a clue, He lets her down saying she is too small to love. Heart broken she goes back but with a firm mind to show him that she is not immature about her love. Later after completion of her higher studies, she joins Medicine in Kozhikode and when she goes to tell Giri about it finds out that he went to Shaolin Temple, for some personal reasons. In college life she has new buddies, new life and a new best friend who is also his lecturer Dr.Prasad Varkey(Vineeth Sreenivasan). Her hope for her love is getting lesser as days pass.

Behind the scenes:
Jude Antony did exceptionally well in keeping the story simple and realistic.
Cinematography by Vinod Illamapally did many new experiments and is a visual treat with some awesome techniques never tried in malayalam movies.
Editing by Lijo Paul need to be specially mentioned, as it was blended nice with each moments.
Music is done by Shaan Rahman. From his entry to industry he has gifted beautiful songs one after the other and he continue to do so. Some lovely tracks worth listening.

About the Cast:
Nazriya Nazim as Pooja Mathew, the centre role did her best performance till date. All her love for Giri, tension, thoughts, emotions were spot on.
Nivin Pauly as Giri was perfect for the role. A mature macho delivering splendid performance.
Ranji Panicker as Dr.Mathew was not the best for the role. But the love of people towards him as  a director will keep his faults aside.
Aju Varghese as David was brilliant. For the first time he was not a sidekick for the hero but against it, did justice to his role.
Vinay Prasad as Rachel, did justice to her character.
Vinneth Sreenivasan as Dr.Prasad was brilliant and "the cunning boy" was spot on.
Lal Jose as Jacob Tharakan was another role which has brought out the good actor inside an awesome director.
All the other casts did well and no one made a dull performance.

Should You Watch:
A love story from a girls perspective, has been shown the best way. Now filthy dialogues, no double meaning lines, another movie that could be easily seen with family(Love stories now a days are hard to watch with). Colourful movie, awesome songs, brilliant acting, there are lot of things worth watching. Some lags here and there but never made ME boring to watch. Kudos to whole crew.
Cant get out the song "Kaatu Moolio Pranayam..." out of my head. I've been rhyming since i left outside theatre, and so was my friends. As always final decision is yours...!!! :D

My Rating: 4.5/5
