Movie Review: ABCD - American Born Confused Desi

ABCD:

ABCD- American Born Confused Desi is the second venture of Martin Prakkat, with Dulquer Salmaan leading the cast was an awaited movie this year.

About the movie:Two young Chaps Johns (Dulquer) and Korah (Jacob Gregory) leading their life with their parents money partying and tripping without any control. Both are very good trouble makers too and very often they end up in jail. Usually they get out when Isaac John (Laloo Aalex) father of Johns comes and get bailed out. But once they cross their limit and get into serious trouble that they cannot stay in U.S any more. They have to leave their home town now and Issace comes with the idea of making them go to India. With no other option they come to Kochi just for spending their vacation time but coming to kerala they find it was actually a set-up by Issac for making them learn the value of money they spend recklessly and teach them to lead a better life. The story develops to different view based on the politics and media ruling kerala, where it further tells the changes in the life of these two American Born Confused Desis.

Martin Prakkat as director did an ok job, but still the directional part Confused me whether it was in full control, because of his directional debut which was much better than this.
Sooraj-Neeraj team with the script makes a hype of having something, but really didn't end as expected.
Screenplay by Martin and Sooraj-Neera, did ok but had never kept the expectation.
Jomon T John as Cinematographer did his part well, and kept the job perfect given to him.
Editing by Donmax was also best the movie could have.
Music by Gopi Sundar was the best attraction of the film as it was spot on with best timings and some good songs to add on.

About the Cast:
Dulquer Salmaan into his 4th movie definitely played his part well and is improving his skills in every movie, surely a trendy actor with high language skills which was apt for the movie.
Jacob Gregory form "akkarakazchakal" makes a really American Born Confused desi in the movie.
Aparna Gopinath as Madhumitha did well with her performance.
Tovino Thomas as Akhilesh Varma was good and definitely a new one is added to the new generation actors.
Lalu Alex as Issac did his part good as usual.
Vijayaraghavan as Ravi Varma played his part well too.
Sreekumar as Anglo-Indian was fun to watch on screen.
Savannah Schechter as Dulquar's girlfriend in guest appearance didn't had much, but was still ok.
Nawas Kalabhavan, Thampi Antony and many others had small roles and kept it moving.
Totally the main star cast was big, but the utilization of this star cast was not in the perfect way.

Should You Watch:
A
movie is saw with lots of expectation never impressed me personally, but a non boring movie from start to end and with some good one liners kept it moving. Language in the movie could have been more censored but looks like its the current trend. A movie with nothing as social relevance but gives us some questions needed to be answered. A total time pass movie with good Camera works and best BG score keeps us moving and a real unexpected and unused climax which may or may not impress you, its upto you. All over i saw a lot of confused desis leaving the theatre.
And as always the final decision is yours.

My Rating: 3.5/5
